Youth Arts Outreach Program

Numerous studies have shown how important musical and cultural experiences can be in developing young minds.

In 2014, the Symphony began a youth arts outreach program, offering a block of free tickets to students from disadvantaged communities at each of our regular concerts. This is just one more way the Symphony works toward its goal of providing music education to youth.

Before the concert, a Symphony board member or musician goes to the school to give some background on the music and composers and to explain proper dress and etiquette. When the children arrive at the Fox Theatre, music director Bruce Kiesling welcomes the students and tells them a little about what they will be hearing.

For each concert, one school will be chosen to receive 24 tickets (22 for students and two for chaperones). Preference is given to schools serving children in disadvantaged, rural communities, but any school may request tickets for students.

Sign up and bring your class to a concert!
