Enjoy an evening under the stars as the Tulare County Symphony opens its 2016-17 season with the Pops in the Park concert. This concert will be held at the historic Zumwalt Park in Tulare on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. so that audience members may enjoy some time at the park. Be sure to pack for a picnic, along with blankets and chairs. Tables closest to the stage are also available, and may be reserved for $250. This is a family-friendly event. Prior to the concert, there will be an array of fun activities for children. Popular from last year, there will be an instrument petting zoo where orchestra members will let children try out various instruments. They can also get some conducting pointers, as later during the concert Maestro Keisling will invite children to join him onstage to help conduct the orchestra. A bounce house, face painting and other activities will also be held at the park.

As fun is had and the sun begins to set, the orchestra will get ready to perform at 8 p.m. Highlights from the concert will include delightful Americana music, movie music, big band music, marches, and more. And as always, a fabulous salute to our men and women in the Armed Forces will conclude the evening’s concert.

One beautiful voice you will hear throughout the evening is that of Charlotte Garcia da Rosa. Charlotte comes from a musical family who have done outstanding things for the community. She is the vocal director for TCOE’s Theatre Company, in addition to working with COS theatre, The Fourth Wall, and choral programs in Visalia high schools. With her 30-years-plus experience, she will be delighting our audience with a collection of Broadway tunes.

Tickets are $20 for adults and free for children 12 and under with a paid adult. Tickets are available with cash at the gate, or can be purchased by calling 559-732-8600.

Season tickets for the 2016-17 concert series, Back to Our Roots, are currently available. Visitwww.tularecountysymphony.com to download a season brochure and reserve your seats.
